Sacred Thursday Ritual

The Tiruppavada Seva is an exclusive ritual observed only on Thursdays at the Tirumala Venkateswara Temple. Commencing around 6:15 a.m. within the Tirumamani Mandapam, this ceremony entails the preparation and presentation of a substantial quantity of Pulihora (Tamarind rice) to Lord Sri Venkateswara.

Alongside, an array of delectable sweet preparations is also offered. These offerings, adorned with coconuts, flowers, sandalwood paste, and Vermilion, are presented to Lord Malayappa by the Temple Priests amidst the resonating chants of sacred mantras.

Divine Offerings Ceremony

The Thiruppavada Seva occurs as an arjitha Seva in the Mantapam, located in front of the Bangaru Vakili. During this sacred rite, recognized as Annakutotsavam, a sizable rectangular golden vessel is placed in the Mantapam. It is brimming with an assortment of offerings, comprising Pulihora, alongside delectable sweets such as payasam, laddu, jilebi, thenthola, and appam. Coconuts, blossoms, sandalwood paste, kumkum, and oil lamps are tendered as naivedya to the Lord as an integral part of this ceremonious presentation.

    When the namam is removed, it's said mortals can't withstand the Lord's gaze, so it falls on the tamarind rice, reducing its potency. This is known as Tiruppavada Seva. Following this is Poolangi Seva.

Seva Ticket Acquisition

An alternative method to obtain tickets for this seva is through recommendation letters. Recommendations from high-ranking officials are accepted for this purpose. Upon receiving the recommendation letter, individuals can visit the JEO office and proceed with the booking process.

Upon confirmation of the booking, pilgrims will receive an SMS notification and can collect their tickets from MBC 14 by presenting the SMS and identification card. However, this procedure is applicable only to those with recommendation letters.
